What we're doing

In short, we don't know (yet)!

It feels like we’ve all been holding our breath for a long time. From COVID, to the orange lunatic, the stress of skyrocketing costs of living, and too many other things to list, it’s no wonder we feel untethered (on a good day). It's time for a new approach. Let's tune out all the negative noise and focus on things we can actually change.

What we DO know:

Community trust is the ultimate wealth!

  • The 2025 World Happiness Report found that believing your neighbours would return a lost wallet is a stronger predictor of life satisfaction than doubling your income.

The Biological "Kindness Cocktail"

  • 23% Cortisol Drop: Habitually kind people consistently show nearly a quarter less cortisol (stress hormone) than the average person. This directly slows the physical aging of your cells and protects your heart.

  • Helper’s High: When you do something kind, your brain's reward centre dumps dopamine into your system, a measurable chemical 'high' that reinforces the behaviour, making you feel good (and want to be helpful again)

  • Heart Health & Oxytocin: Kindness triggers the release of oxytocin ("cuddle hormone"). This causes the release of nitric oxide in your blood vessels, which dilates them and lowers blood pressure. Kindness is cardio-protective!

  • Good Neighbour Gene Expression: Recent studies show being kind helps your body fight off inflammation and infection more effectively.

Let's Change the Narrative from Helpless to Helpful

We're on a mission to find the opportunities in Dundas where a little extra care could make a big difference. No project is too small or too big - this is a 'blue sky' initiative to make Dundas the kindest community in Canada. Let's talk!

  • What does Dundas need right now?

  • Do you have a neighbour who could use some support?

  • Is there an educational series or pop-up event that could be valuable in the community?

  • Is there a 'moonshot' project you'd like to get off the ground?
